Elena Sapelyuk
Paul F. Pelosi 2022 Scholar
Elena Sapelyuk is a junior in the SFS studying International Politics and minoring in International Development. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Elena’s interest in migration and refugee issues was sparked by her family's own journey as immigrants from Russia. She is especially interested in the intersection of migration and development, innovative economic integration policy and humanitarian crisis response that aligns with long term development goals. Next summer, she hopes to explore pathways in public service that address these topics and to continue to develop her understanding of policy development by interning with an NGO or multilateral organization. At Georgetown, she is an Undergraduate Scholar at the BMW Center for German and European Studies, a coordinator with DC Schools Project at the Center for Social Justice and the Transfer Representative on the SFS Academic Council.
