The BMW Center for German and European Studies
invites you to:
Reshaping the European Financial Industry: A View from Frankfurt
a lecture with:
Mr. Christopher F. Porter
Managing Director and Regional Executive
Germany, Switzerland, Central & Eastern Europe and Israel
BNY Mellon Global Client Management
The European financial industry has already embarked upon a period of significant change, driven by a cocktail of a changing regulatory environment, industry pursuit of greater operating efficiencies, and market forces. Looking forward, the industry landscape faces the potential for significant transformation. Two issues that are currently consuming the industry’s imagination are Brexit and Digitalization/Innovation. Brexit harbors the potential to fragment the industry and reverse a decades-long trend of centralization. Digitalization/Innovation is already impacting everything from strategic business planning to required employee skillsets. This lunch discussion is intended as an opportunity to share observations on these trends, as well as facilitate an open dialogue on matters of interest to attendees!
Christopher F. Porter is an alumnus of the Master of Arts in German and European Studies Program here at Georgetown University. At The Bank of New York Mellon, he is the Regional Executive for Germany, Switzerland, Central & Southeastern Europe (CEE) and Israel, also serving as Client Executive to the firm’s largest and most complex clients in the region. In this capacity, he drives overall strategic development and accelerates the company’s growth across all of BNY Mellon’s core businesses. He performs numerous governance and leadership roles in the firm, including his role as Chair of BNY Mellon Frankfurt’s US Branch Management, Member of the German Leadership Committee, and Israel Innovation Steering Council.
