Join the Center for Latin American Studies, in partnership with the Latin American Initiative, for a conversation with Senator Juan Manuel Galán. Senator Galán is a Georgetown alumnus (MSFS 2003) and an influential politician in Colombia’s Liberal party. In the Senate, he works closely on issues relating to the peace accord including victims’ rights and land reform. Senator Galán is also a presidential pre-candidate in the 2018 elections and the son of former presidential candidate Luis Carlos Galán, who was assassinated in 1989. At this event, the Senator will speak to the Georgetown community about his work in the Senate and address topics such as the peace accord and the U.S.-Colombia bilateral relationship.
