SummerSFS: Ani Chikhikvadze

Ani Chkhikvadze is a graduate student at the Center for Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies, specializing in Eastern Europe and the South Caucasus. She spent her summer working in Kiev, Ukraine with the local organizations: “Platform of Reforms” and Ukrainian Crisis Media Center.

Elisa Mosler is a second year MSFS student with an International Development concentration. Elisa spent the summer interning with a Philippine NGO in Manila called Center for Migrant Advocacy (CMA).

SummerSFS: Claudia Wagner

Claudia Wagner is a graduate student at the Center for Eurasian, Russian, and East European Studies program focusing on Russia and the Caucasus. This summer, she was a trainee at the Council of Europe office in Tbilisi, Georgia, working on human rights and electoral assistance programs.

SummerSFS: Hannah Creek

Hannah Creek is a graduate student in the Security Studies Program (SSP) where she is concentrating on U.S. National Security. This summer, Hannah traveled to the United Kingdom to conduct independent research on the counterterrorism legislation, known prominently as the CONTEST Strategy, of America’s greatest ally.

SummerSFS: Natalia Kopytnik

Natalia Kopytnik is a graduate student at the Center for Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies, focusing on Central and Eastern European studies. This summer, she was in Poland where she interned at the Warsaw Observer and Warsaw Insider magazines, focusing on Polish foreign relations as well as events going on in Warsaw

SummerSFS: Ryan Millerick

Ryan Millerick is a graduate student in the German and European Studies program (MAGES). He spent the summer in Munich, Germany interning in the Government and External Affairs Office at the BMW global headquarters through one of the Center’s Signature Internships.

Timothy Loh is a graduate student in the MA in Arab Studies program. Timothy spent his summer studying Arabic in Alexandria, Egypt.

Brad Youngblood is a MA student at the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies. He spent his summer studying Arabic in Cairo, Egypt.

Cristina Zhang is a second-year Master’s degree student in the Latin American Studies Program with a concentration in Political Economy and China-Latin America relations.

SummerSFS: Ashley Johnson

Ashley Johnson is a graduate student in the Global Human Development program focusing on energy, environment and climate change. She spent her summer interning with USAID’s office of Economic Growth and Trade in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where she worked on the Power Africa Initiative.

SummerSFS: Gretchen Knoth

Gretchen Knoth is a second-year Master’s degree student in the Global Human Development Program with a dual concentration in agriculture and private sector development. She recently returned from the Philippines, where she spent the summer interning with USAID on industry competitiveness, trade and electronic payments projects.

SummerSFS: Denny Newhouse

Denny Newhouse is a graduate student in the Global Human Development program. This summer, Denny worked with the American Red Cross and Myanmar Red Cross Society on disaster risk reduction programs in Yangon, Myanmar and with CARE Bangladesh on emergency response programs in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Yeyen Ong is a second year MSFS student concentrating in Global Business and Finance. She spent her summer interning with the United Nations Development Programme(Pacific Financial Inclusion Programme) in Fiji.

Andrea Arzaba is a second year graduate student in the Master’s in Latin American Studies concentrating in Development. She spent her summer interning with The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Montevideo, Uruguay.

SummerSFS: Casey Bahr

Casey Bahr is a graduate student in the Master of Arts in Arab Studies program. She spent her summer doing a 6 week intensive Arabic study abroad program with CCAS and interning with Dar Si Hmad, a Moroccan NGO based in Agadir, Morocco.

Zi Yang is a graduate student in the Asian Studies program. This summer, he took a vacation to Colorado and Wyoming and took Russian classes in Washington, DC.
