Brandi Coleman is a rising sophomore in the School of Foreign Service majoring in International Politics with a concentration in Security Studies, minoring in Spanish, and working to achieve a certificate in either Diplomatic Studies or Australia and New Zealand Studies.
SFS SUPPORTS STUDENTS IN SUMMER INTERNSHIPS AND LANGUAGE STUDY
Internships are an integral part of the SFS education and prepare students for careers in the international arena. Internships provide students with the opportunity to enhance their academic coursework; gain professional experience and insight into career opportunities; develop contacts in their field of interest; and explore the public, private, and/or non-profit sectors.
SFS students intern around the world for organizations ranging from the U.S. State and Defense Departments to the United Nations, international NGOs and Fortune-500 companies. Some students spend their summer attending intensive language courses to achieve mastery of their chosen foreign language.
From Vancouver, Canada, Gary Xie is a rising senior in SFS majoring in International Political Economy with a minor in French. He has previously interned at the US Senate, Brookings China Center and took a gap year in 2016 to work at Hillary Clinton’s Campaign HQ.
Qiaoxi Luo is a rising sophomore in the SFS, potentially majoring in IPEC with a certificate in International Development. She is a translator for TED talks and a social media manager for Bossier Magazine. This past summer, she was home in China and was thrilled to share her beloved hometown with the GU family.
Grace Rector is a rising sophomore in the School of Foreign Service majoring in Culture and Politics with a concentration in Global Education, Minoring in Arabic, and working on attaining a certificate in Justice and Peace Studies.
Julia Friedmann is a rising senior at Georgetown University, majoring in Regional and Comparative Studies with a focus on Latin America and the Middle East, with a minor in Spanish. This summer, Julia traveled to Colombia as part of a grant from the Pulitzer Center for International Crisis Reporting.
Cira Mancuso is a sophomore in the School of Foreign Service majoring in International Politics and minoring in Spanish. This summer she traveled with Georgetown University to Quito, Ecuador from May 23 to July 6 for an intensive language program.
Siddharth Muchhal is a rising sophomore in the School of Foreign Service, majoring in International Political Economy. He works as a journalist both in his home state of New Jersey and on campus, and is passionate about international development through the lens of politics and economics.
Margaux Fontaine is a senior in the SFS majoring in Culture and Politics with a concentration on politics and media. This summer, she interned in the Press and Communications Office of the Embassy of France in Washington, D.C., promoting the French-American relationship by developing content for social media and the Embassy’s News From France newsletter about French culture and major policy priorities.
Sarah Baron is a rising junior in the SFS majoring in Regional and Comparative Studies, focusing on Africa and the Middle East. She is pursuing a language minor in French and language proficiencies in French and Arabic. This past summer, she expanded on her interest in International Development and Education through Projects Abroad from May 21st to July 21st.
Ashley is a rising junior in the School of Foreign Service majoring in Science, Technology, and International Affairs with a concentration in Science, Technology, and Security and a minor in Persian. She was born and raised in the small town of Otsego, MI.
Jack Reichert is a comedian from Houston, Texas. At Georgetown, he is on the swim team, GUerilla Improv, and has an internship with Underground Comedy. He spent the summer doing standup as a street performer in New York City.
Juliette Leader is a rising junior studying Science, Technology, and International, Affairs with a concentration in Energy and the Environment. This summer, she will be in Antigua, Guatemala, from May 9th to June 1st, learning Spanish at a Cambio Language School, which is associated with the nonprofit Niños de Guatemala.
Colin Miller is a rising second year in the dual Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Foreign Service graduate programs. Prior to Georgetown, he served as a Naval Officer for 6 years with assignments to San Diego, CA and the Pentagon and two deployments to Somalia and East Asia.
Hannah Peterson just finished her first year in the Global Human Development Master’s Program in the School of Foreign Service. She is originally from Surrey, England, but has spent the past five years working and living in Nicaragua and El Salvador.
Jessica Kosmider is a candidate in Georgetown University’s Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) program concentrating in Global Politics and Security. She co-founded the MSFS Service Committee and spent last semester interning at NBC News.
Martha Guerrero is a rising second year in Georgetown’s Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) program, concentrating in International Development. Originally from Mexico, Martha is the current Vice-President of External Relations of Georgetown University Graduate Association of Mexican Students (GUGAMS).
Lindsay Swisher is a second-year student in the Master of Science in Foreign Service program, concentrating in International Development. She is President of the Georgetown Anti-Poverty Society and Vice-President of Big Buddies, a youth mentoring program at SFS.
Rebecca Martin is pursuing her M.A. in German and European Studies in the School of Foreign Service with an emphasis on international business diplomacy and the role of public-private partnerships in addressing global challenges.
Colleen interned at Search for Common Ground in Kigali, Rwanda, where she wrote grant proposals and did monitoring and evaluation. She also contributed to their social media and worked on storytelling for their website.
Manuela Hernandez is a rising second year in the School of Foreign Service majoring in the Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) program with a concentration in International Development. She is part of the team that founded the Diversity and Inclusion Committee for the MSFS program.
