Center for Contemporary Arab Studies
Dr. Mohammad Shawkat AlAhmad is a visiting lecturer in the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies and the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies at Georgetown University. He is a faculty member at AlFurat University in Deir ez-Zor, Syria and Vice Dean for Academic Affairs in the College of Arts and Humanities in the Raqa campus of AlFurat University. He has published widely in the field of modern Arabic poetry, Arab rhetoric and modern literary criticism. He received his PhD in Arabic Language and Literature from Aleppo University in 2008, where he also completed his BA, diploma and MA degrees.
