Connor O’Brien is a rising junior at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, majoring in Science, Technology, and International Affairs with a focus in Science, Technology, and Security. Connor is originally from Boston, Massachusetts. He is interested in Eastern Europe, Russia, and Central Asia, and is currently studying the Russian language. At Georgetown, Connor is a guide in GU Outdoor Education, a club that leads weekly camping/backpacking trips into the wilderness of the DMV area.
Last summer Connor traveled to Tbilisi, Georgia. There, he studied the Russian language through Harvard University Summer School, and learned about Georgian culture, history, politics, and cuisine. He also met with Georgian and American politicians, academics, and guest speakers to discuss past, present, and future issues facing the region. Additionally, Connor visited Yerevan, Armenia, where he explored the city and learned about the relationship between Russia, Georgia, and Armenia.
