Michael Jurist Distinguished Alumni Roundtable

content

The Michael Jurist Distinguished Alumni Round Table Series (MJDARTS), named in memory of Michael Jurist (SFS ’07), is designed to expose School of Foreign Service undergraduates to the rich and varied accomplishments of SFS alumni who return to campus in an informal, round table setting to speak about where their degree has taken them and their personal experiences as well as the successes and challenges they have faced since graduation.

Michael was about to embark on a new career at Deutsche Bank's New York branch following his graduation from SFS in May 2007. His successes were many, including membership on the Dean's list and an Advanced Certificate in European Studies.  He was a member of Pi Delta Phi (National French Honor Society) and Phi Alpha Theta (National History Honor Society) and served as the Chair of Georgetown University Lecture Fund during the final year he was involved. To focus only on Michael's academic accomplishments would not reveal the depth and breadth of his shining spirit. He loved tennis and travel and possessed a generosity of spirit which he gave effortlessly and gracefully to all he encountered during his brief life.  His intellectual curiosity led him to always ask why, while his sense of adventure always asked why not. It is this particular combination of inquisitiveness and generosity that his family hopes to perpetuate with MJDARTS.

MJDARTS is made possible through the generosity of the family and friends of Michael Evan Jurist. Michael's sudden death in 2007 had a tremendous impact on the many lives he touched at Georgetown, in his native Canada, and throughout the world. Each Round Table event is free and open to SFS undergraduate students on a limited basis. Sessions will generally be 60-90 minutes in length.
