The Center for Security Studies Lunchtime Series hosted a debate between professors Bruce Hoffman and Daniel Byman in the Mortara Center for International Studies on January 14, 2016. The professors discussed the threat posed by the radicalized foreign fighter.
Dr. Bruce Hoffman is the Director of the Center for Security Studies and the Security Studies Program. His areas of expertise are terrorism, counterterrorism, insurgency and counterinsurgency. Dr. Daniel Byman is the Senior Associate Dean for Undergraduate Affairs in the SFS and specializes in terrorism and national security.
Hoffman and Byman both agree that the threat of the radicalized foreign fighter is real, but Byman argues that the threat is exaggerated and there are several other important considerations on the table.
