Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service

School of Foreign Service Dean Search

content

On behalf of our committee, I am pleased to announce that the search for the next Dean of the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service has commenced.  We are looking for a new Dean in a time of unprecedented opportunities and challenges—opportunities to redefine the School’s mission in a globalizing world and challenges in a time of international economic and political uncertainty.  Georgetown has assembled a talented search committee and we look forward to selecting a new Dean by next spring.

The School of Foreign Service—a core part of Georgetown University—is internationally renowned as a center of excellence for both theoreticians and practitioners of foreign policy. Foreign Policy magazine has ranked SFS the top university offering graduate international relations programs in the United States, with the fourth best undergraduate programs. Our faculty and student body are international both in outlook and provenance.

We are looking for an outstanding individual who is both a scholar and practitioner in international affairs, with both policy and academic experience. Our committee looks forward to considering qualified candidates with exceptional leadership qualities. In addition to defining and enhancing the School’s mission, the new Dean will oversee the education of students who must have the skills to deal with future global challenges.

Georgetown is working with the search firm SpencerStuart, to identify eligible candidates. We welcome your suggestion for qualified applicants. Please send these to sfs@spencerstuart.com.  We look forward to your input.

Sincerely,

Angela Stent,
Chair, SFS Dean Search Committee.
