The Program for Jewish Civilization (PJC) at SFS is raising funds to endow a Center for Jewish Civilization. The PJC seeks at least twenty-five commitments of $100,000 and above to provide the building blocks for the proposed Center. Donors are recognized individually and permanently as Founders of the future Center for Jewish Civilization.

A Center for Jewish Civilization would build upon a tradition at Georgetown of teaching and research on Jewish civilization

Established in 2003, the Fund currently has 17 Founders made up of alumni, parents, and a few unaffiliated individuals. The Founders met collectively for the first time in November 2006 at the home of Matt (F ’82) and Andrea Lustig in New York City to discuss new and creative ways to promote PJC and reach out to potential donors.

Professor Jacques Berlinerblau, PJC director, Georgetown’s Rabbi Harold White, and a 24-member Executive Committee chaired by Professor Robert Lieber lead fundraising efforts. The endowment of a Center for Jewish Civilization would build upon a well-established tradition at Georgetown of teaching and research on Jewish civilization, which includes the Goldman Visiting Israeli Professorship, established some two decades ago to bring top Israeli scholars to campus—the first program of its kind in the United States.
